I love our pair of captive bred mandarins!! They are breathtaking to watch, especially when they do their mating dance up the glass when the aquarium lights turn off. They spend their days hovering over and pecking copepods off the rocks, it feels like they live in a completely separate world from the rest of my aquarium fish.

It is critical to have lots and lots of copepods in the tank prior to adding any mandarin, as they can be difficult to get them to eat anything else.

Wow! Another spectacular fish purchase from Dr Reef! I have a pair of captive bred mandarins that are just stunning! They arrived chubby and healthy – started hunting and eating pods right away and haven’t stopped! They seem to get in on any food that comes in the tank, well trained before they came to me! They are my new favorite fish in my tank (don’t tell the others!) Beautiful creatures to watch when the lights go out and they swim together. Thank you Dr Reef!! I appreciate what you do!

Beautiful fish! Arrived in great shape and super healthy.

When he arrived, I was a little surprised by how small he was- It does describe the size as “tiny” but he was smaller than I had expected. He settled right in to the tank, and was eating the first day. He hunts pods all day, but also eats frozen foods at feeding time, which is really nice as I don’t have to stress about my pod population.

WELL WORTH getting them from Dr. Reef- His prices are actually competitive with my local fish stores, but none of my LFSs offer any type of treatment or quarantine system. It makes it SO much easier when you buy them ready to go!
